The second of Yamaha's Fan-ding projects, VSinger Akasuki Luci's crowdfunding campaign is now live! I wonder if she'll be as successful as Adachi Rei?

Here is her voice provider's real voice, for reference:

Here is concept art of her vocal synth design:

Her voice is a soft-whispery type I feel I've heard a lot recently (most of Kamitsubaki's output, Nakuru, Miki, Nurse Robo, Asa, Nayuta, Asumi Shuo...) but I love her design!

We shall see what happens but not like concerned with the outcome either way? Just a generic voice in this day and age? Maybe she has a fanbase already but I have never heard of her at all and at least with Kafu she was already known and was like featured in anime themes and ish before everything idk

Edit: The lack of like original assets for their backer rewards is also weird to me? Like the plush reward literally is just Adachi Rei's

While Vtubers are spiritually less exciting for me than original Vocaloid characters, I'm happy for them to get voice banks if it gives us access to HQ and interesting voices. Thinking back, Itsuki was a cool addition to SynthV's lineup, and Yurin is my favourite recent VoiSona. I understand why companies are leaning towards voices with preestablished fanbases.

I don’t know her at all but her Vocaloid design being illustrated by Hidari (MAYU character designer & one of my all time favourite artists) is enough to get me VERY interested. The concept art already looks sick.

At ¥15000 ($94 USD) you get a "boxed" version that contains a character acrylic standee and a code to download the voicebank, same as Ci-chan and Tsumugi (and Adachi Rei once the campaign is complete).

The Vsynth collector in me is here for it, but it's disappointing that ONCE AGAIN there won't be a physical disc containing the voicebank. I don't trust DL/digital only releases after CYBER SONGMAN V4 got pulled from the shop :/

You could always make your own disc and stick it in with the box if there's room.
^^ That's what I've been planning to do (along with all my "digital-only" Vsynths lol).

It's just a shame, I really hoped some of the additional crowdfunding would allow them to produce something physical, y'know? I know discs are being forced into obsolescence, but a USB key would've been nice :/

I think rather than it being Rei, it's the generic image Yamaha is using for all of these crowdfunds. The host of both Rei and Luci's crowdfunds is the FAN-ding account, aka Yamaha. They're probably going to use it for every crowdfund and not make mockups for each individual one.

On a related note, it's probably going to mostly be Vtubers going through this Yamaha-backed crowdfund route, since they're the most likely candidates to already have a fanbase that would be willing to support them in this way. Maybe lesser known synths with dedicated fans (see: certain UTAU) could stand a chance, but any completely original character would have to get pretty lucky to get this kind of attention (or be super unique, but I unfortunately don't think that correlates with the likelihood of being funded).

Anyway, Luci's been fully funded. I think her design is really cute, and it's always nice to see support like this!
