Found out that a ctrl + click sets the control parameter back to the default value (i.e. PIT to 0). So now I don't have to eyeball the pitch to reset it back to 0
Keep in mind that ctrl + drag is to turn off quantization temporarily and will take priority instead. At least, only if you are holding the mouse and moved it by a tiny bit.

Perhaps more interesting, is that V5 voices have also been ported into V4. Tfw your editors have forwards compatibility as well as backwards?? Lol[/SPOILER]

Maybe VOCALOID5 is not as innovative as we thought LOL

I played with the trial once and managed to mess a few up.

Everything was there. I was able to use everything. the new air/breath parameters can probably turn any bank into a legit soft/whisper bank. vocal fry, attack release, styles, the works.

it took away my xsy so it doesnt sound as good to me(my vsq is in covers section) but a single parameter (air)changes it to whisper. theres also breath parameter is really good now too.

You can talk about the V2->V5/V5->V4 ports, but we ask that you please do not discuss how to do it nor share usage of it.
Talking about VOCALOID5 voicebanks in the VOCALOID 4.5 Editor for Cubase is fine since that's intended by the 4.5 Editor.

It's really nice that a lot of the parameters seem to work with V3/V4 voicebanks in the VOCALOID5 Editor, making them more versatile tone-wise as individual banks in V5!

Personally, knowing that people have found a way to get V2 voices in V5 makes me a bit miffed at Yamaha for not supporting that feature. I'm not envious enough to break my license for it, but I feel vindicated in saying "what the fuck, Yamaha?" Growl and vocal fry would go great with a lot of the V2 Engloids. Sure, most of the V2 Jloids will get updated to V5, but us Engloid fans are screwed over once again.

So I am thinking that the reason so many vocaloids toward the end of V4 were single voicebanks and not multiple like soft/power/whatever, is that it could have been intended for V5. I noticed that you can manipulate voices to sound whispery and airy or add more power to them now kinda negating the need for mutliple voicebanks per character.

V5 looks AMAZING. I'm glad that it's so different form V4 because now I won't feel like having V4 is like lugging around an expensive, obsolete program. It's different in such a way that some days I'll be in the mood for V4 and some days I'll be in the mood for V5. Very excited to buy this!

In my opinion V5 seems to make Vocaloids from later versions sound nicer, less flat/more human like and maybe even more unique which I heard was somewhat of a problem in V3 and V4 (certain Vocaloids sounding flat and not unique enough that is). I hope this means we will see less generic sounding Vocaloids (Like Mirai and Chika) this generation since it seems Yamaha has figured out how to make them sound more unique and vivid, at least it seems that way to me now. :0

Speaking of Luka V4, has anyuone tried to use V5 to make her sound more like her old self? Also is EVEC possible in V5 and if you add an EVEC tuned vocal to V5 does it retain the data/information or just strip it to the base voice? I haven’t had the time to test it myself.

EVEC works perfectly fine but you need to type it in manually. About her tone, her soft VB is "thicker" in V5 so she does sound more like her V2.

I don't usually register with forums just to complain about something but in this case I had no choice.

Long time Vocaloid 4 power user. Have made close to 300 Vocaloid tracks to date.


Love Vocaloid 4. Most people I play this stuff for hate how Vocaloid sounds but I don't care. I love it and use it exclusively. So I was really excited when Vocaloid 5 came out. Couldn't wait to get it.

I can't even begin to tell you how disappointed I am.

Two major problems.

1. I am using the Cubase Editor upgrade version. The timeline of the editor does NOT sync with the timeline of the DAW. If I play, say the first 20 bars and want to go back to bar 10 to listen over and move the editor cursor to bar 10, the DAW bar remains at 20. So when I hit play again, the song continues from bar 20 because that's where the Cubase DAW cursor is at. So I have to constantly switch back and forth between the editor and Cubase to change my start position. This is a workflow killer like you can't even begin to imagine.

2. I'm doing a prog rock track. Vocals start at measure 54. I place my first note at measure 54 in the editor. I rewind, going back to Cubase, play from 49 leading up to 54 to hear how it sounds and the note I placed at measure 54 plays at measure 50. There is nothing at measure 50. I looked all over. I have no idea how it interprets measure 54 to play at 50 and then, wait for it, plays at 54 also.

I finally had to remove V5 from the Cubase timeline and load V4 to do this song and so far having no problems at all. Everything in the editor is in sync with the DAW. Every note plays where it's supposed to play.

If I could get a refund, I would. I can't believe they would release something with such major problems.
