I might have completely misunderstood, but the way I read the email announcement from Presonus, it seemed like there was going to be some kind of maintenance plan that will bring the updates. So essentially, you have:
  1. Initial purchase of Studio One Pro, which is yours forever
  2. Maintenance plan thing, which is basically you paying on a recurring basis (e.g. annually) for software updates/new features. You can stop paying anytime and keep what you have, but you won't continue to get new stuff (until, I assume, you pay again and get access to the most current Studio One build).
  3. Optionally, your subscription to Presonus Sphere (that's still the name...right?), which gives you loops/plugins/etc. I'm not clear on how that would relate to the maintenance thing--I assume Sphere would include it.

Yeah, I love Studio One to death as a DAW but I don't like this system. FL Studio lets you pay once and get updates for life...I much prefer S1's workflow though

Every once in awhile, I think about switching DAWs, and FL is one of the ones I've had recommended. What's the difference between their workflows?

Though honestly, my only real complaint with Studio One is its nonstandard MIDI implementation, which means that it can't do MIDI routing that would support things like MIDI Shaper or Imaginando's Visual Synth. (There are workarounds, but I've not had much success with them.). By contrast, I've seen complaints that look a bit more serious about other DAWs I've looked into. Which honestly is probably going to be the case about ANY DAW you try researching, so at this point, I sort of figure it's most sensible to prefer the devil I know....

Still, I can't help but ask, because I see people preferring one DAW's workflow over another's, but they never elaborate on what that means.

FL Studio has a completely different system to studio one.
Compared to studio one where one instrument track = midi notes for 1 instrument, in fl studio the tracks don't really mean anything, you place "patterns" on them.
And one pattern can contain notes for multiple instruments at once and even contain samples.

also compared to studio one where an instrument has a mixer channel assigned to it, on fl studio that's not the case, you manually set a mixer channel to each instrument and sample by ID.
FL Studio's system is basically very modular but it also means it's very easy to make things very messy if we're not comfortable with this workflow. meanwhile, studio one's workflow is more standard and predefined, but at least it's very intuitive and easy to use.

FL Studio always came across as more complicated to me, like there's a lot going on and it can be hard to wrap my head around it, from my experience using the trial (the mobile version is a lot simpler though)

We had FL Studio in secondary school, and even when I was a teen, I thought it was too complicated for 11-16 year olds to use for Music lessons.

Miku NT2 Early Access Beta will be available from October 23rd(●'◡'●)🎁🎈

official page:
The Early Access version is an early beta version of the new version of "Hatsune Miku NT" that is currently under development! It will be released free of charge to regular users of "Hatsune Miku NT"!

What is "Hatsune Miku NT (Ver.2)" currently under development?

"Hatsune Miku NT" is a singing synthesis software released on November 27, 2020 as a "Hatsune Miku package" that combines specially customized singing expression technology, voice library, software interface, and voice effector. The new version, "Hatsune Miku NT ( Ver.2)" , which is currently under development, will completely change the existing singing synthesis engine! Based on the concept of pursuing "Hatsune Miku-ness", we will adopt a newly developed original singing synthesis engine (in-house development code: M9) developed by Crypton and add new functions that allow for more free singing expression.

In addition, "Hatsune Miku NT (Ver.2)" will also be equipped with the newly developed "Piapro Studio - Automatic Control" function group to support creators' creative work. The vocal editor automatically adjusts consonant length, pitch curve, vibrato, etc. to suit the expression of the singing voice that the creator is aiming for. Creators can then freely add adjustments to make it easier to express their ideal singing voice.

In addition, at the special exhibition venue of the event "Hatsune Miku "Magical Mirai 2024" in OSAKA" to be held at INTEX Osaka from Saturday, October 12th to Monday, October 14th, 2024, "Hatsune Miku NT (Ver.2)" will be exhibited at the exhibition booth of the SONICWIRE team , which is responsible for Crypton's music business . If you are attending the event, you will be able to listen to demo songs and hear explanations from staff, so please stop by.

The major update version of "Hatsune Miku NT (Ver.2)" is scheduled to be released in the first half of 2025, and will be provided free of charge to regular users of "Hatsune Miku NT", just like the Early Access version . Please look forward to further updates! ( ๑•ω- ๑)-★
