Her voice sounds nice! It's a shame her voice provider is the only skilled artist attached to the project - or at least the only one who seems to value her craft.
Given that her company has made no efforts to reach out or accommodate to Korean fans (there's not even translations on their webpages...), I don't see the reception becoming positive. At the moment, there has been discussion about her in Korean spaces and among Korean fans / speakers, but nobody really interested in her directly - only Korean XLS. In fact, I could see her reputation becoming worse in Korea when she's able to utilize Korean due to complex Geo-political social issues...I know there hasn't been a ton of buzz about her, but just for the record, she has released. I know some clips have been posted around. She seems a decent bank, nothing out of this world yet but not at all a bad product? I think her company's crypto AI dealings will turn off fans in the west, and I'm not sure how well her avatar will serve her anywhere else. Maybe once SV Korean comes out, she'll be a bigger hit since AFAIK her voice provider is a native Korean speaker
It's because they're venture capital - which consists of bloating a start-up with as much money as possible so that they can "exit." Studio ENTRE's entire existence is funding new startups, with a special focus on Web3, NFT, and block-chain technology startups. (Which, is important to note as I've seen many individuals say "well Yamaha released NFTs for Zola" which while most certainly deserves to be criticized, is not the inherent goal or industry that Yamaha and SoundUD work in. Meanwhile, Studio ENTRE's mission statement and areas of expertise are directly within funding and creating new Web3/NFT/block-chain applications and subsidiaries).so quick after their first voice release we're seeing this too...? yeah, not a fan of how gemvox has been developing. there may not be anything illegal going on here but, its overall business practices and other things that just feel off to me at this point

It's very common with VC-backed startups that the project is pumped with money fast to try and expand - sometimes as much as a million dollars or more. The ultimate goal is to either go public or sell the business to return equity to the venture capitalists who invested. However, general statistics show a 75-80% failure rate of VC-backed startups. While the first-year failure rate is low, most VC-backed companies do not last longer than 5 years and it's a miracle to make it to a decade (as can be seen by programs such as MUTA, Vocalina, Sharpkey, among some others). While it is public record, in an attempt to avoid naming names, one of the companies I just listed actually received an investment of 3 million dollars yet became defunct by their 3rd year, and closed their service after 6.
I wouldn't be surprsied if this is the same philosophy that GEMVOX is operating under, especially since the licenses for these products are not cheap. Pump the business/project with as much money as possible, try to make as much content as possible, and aim to return the capital that was invested in your business in a non-crisis way. Given the track record we can observe so far, and the fact they're hoping to make the "GEMVOX UNIVERSE" platform...I personally don't see them lasting long.
couldn't it be some artifacts from JPG compression ? as JPG is a compressed formatUhm....is it just me, or does Topaz's promotional image have weirdly conspicuous aliasing? No, seriously! Look at it!

I've never seen something like this in a vocal synth's promotional artwork/character art in my life! Also, I just took a look at her design again, and um... I could probably find something like this on Pixiv just by sorting by oldest.
I'm just praying for her voicebank to sound insanely divine at this point. I know I'm catastrophizing right now but with the NFT/Web 3.0 stuff, it's just like...huh?
EDIT 2: Sorry for rambling, it's just...I'm writing under the assumption that most of the jagged edges in the illustration weren't intentional. If they are (or likely are), then I'll take this post down.
EDIT: Oh, gosh dang it, this thread was yesterday! I completely missed this thread somehow, but I'm still going to keep this post up. I'm just taking so many Ls...
Giving up on the amateur market to go all in with the "true professionals" is what really tanked Vocaloid 5 lmao so it's clearly not the best idea lol.Agree. Like yeah, Eclipsed got to announce Spanish with Saros, but they also had released VBs before, Saros came with it, and they helped develop it
edit: also I don't love their attitude so far. They... are not winning themselves any favors by being kind of dismissive about amateurs. Like yes, on company sides there have been some messes in the vsynth world. I'll admit that. But I feel like trying to market to professionals and ignore amateur producers is always a disaster. The amateurs were what put Vocaloid on the scene to begin with!!
Maybe I'm being too harsh and they don't mean it that way...
Disgusting kill it with fireUgh.
Special thanks to Animechain.ai for misspelling Vocaloid.
Also, this frame from the video just says it all.
