What if it's taking long because the PS5 is coming out next year (November, allegedly) and the new Diva game will end up being on that console instead of the PS4?
I'd love to see a Switch Diva game, but so far they've only put the Mirai spinoff on 3DS. If Sega were to make a Miku game on Switch, it would probably be a new spinoff title because the Diva buttons correspond to the Playstation controller's buttons, and I wonder if people would be too confused by that if they're so used to the PS controllers.
It wouldn't surprise me if that was the case, but the PS4 still has a bit of life left in it. If a new game has gone too far into development, it probably will release on PS4, but if development has just started or it's early on, it could easily move to the PS5. Or, Sega could pull a Nintendo regarding Zelda and release both the original PS4 game and a PS5 port at the same time.

2020 on Nintendo SWITCH. Can't believe it!
Miku was doing strong the previous years still, very apparent for people at Mirai events. But a new game was always another story.
Now even this has become a reality!
How it'll live up to the old games or have cool new features! Can already here it will include recent cool songs never in the series before like 39 music. Can't wait!!
I sorta guessed they were going to announce it now, very exciting! 101 songs is a nice amount, I wonder if this game will be a pure rhythm game like Future Tone, or will it have some kind of interaction with the characters (like Diva Room in older PD games)?
The only disappointing thing here (for me at least) is that it's not on PS, but Switch. I was really looking forward to a new PlayStation release, I don't own a Switch and I'm not yet sure if I'll buy one just for this game, maybe I'll have to.

Yeah, from what I understood, you can get the new songs on Future Tone as DLC once Mega 39s releases. And apparently Mega 39s will have new? game mode(s)?
And at Magical Mirai (Tokyo) you can apparently try out the new game (translator says "experience").

tip: if you don't have a Switch yet, don't buy it now, because very soon it will be announced Switch Lite (more portable, better design and better battery life), while later in the year it should be time for Switch Pro (made for who want to play 99% of time in front of TV)

I'm almost sure you're joking, but this DOES sound like what Nintendo did with the DS and such.... I wouldn't be surprised if a console called Switch Pro appeared, too....
@mobius017 It's true about the lite Switch, it's related to them having to change factory locations and not being able to get the same parts for the same cost. (I don't really know about a Pro version or the whole story, not a huge Nintendo fan and don't care to research when there are so many rumors compared to hard facts.)
i've been craving a new game for sooo long, but i hope this game gives people who already own project diva future tone a reason to buy this on switch besides different graphics and new songs that are already confirmed to come to future tone at some point

from what I've heard, a Switch lite might appear already by this summer (so in the next 1-3 months). the original Switch is just not that good in terms of portability, and you have to remember that two major Nintendo titles, Pokemon and Animal Crossing, are coming to Switch, and those 2 IPs are perfect on the go. Switch already surpassed PS4 sales in Japan, and a lite version might just put more and more sales to Nintendo.
regarding the rumored Pro version, it might use the new Tegra chip by Nvidia :)
I also want to add more things:
- the new Project DIVA Mega39s for Nintendo Switch will be playable at SEGA booth during Magical Mirai 2019 in Tokyo
- in Tokyo, there will be key members of the Arcade team listening to players and fan feedback. If you are there and have something to say and don't know japanese, I recommend to write the feedback in english in advance on a piece of paper, so they can check it carefully. please feel free to write any kind of feedback ^u^
- more important details, including how the development started, will be shared in a couple of days, when the new issue of Famitsu magazine is out with the interview to the producer Makoto Osaki
- starting from July 5th to August 5th there will be a PiaPro contest to select an original tshirt design that will become a module in the game
- the DLC pack for Future Tone DX (PS4) won't have the new cel shading graphics and the extra mode, those are exclusive to Nintendo Switch
- the theme song has been made just for the new game
- 10 new songs are included
- the "SEGA feat. HATSUNE MIKU Project" team is planning to carry out various 10th anniversary commemorative projects in the future, so please look forward for the future announcements ^u^

Saw it at work and was like YES..!!! I love the cel/toon shading they have. It reminds me of the Future Tone Arcade cell shader mixed with X graphics. Totally going to buy this and the future tone dlc if it's localized...
I did get a little sad when I saw Rolling Girl though. It would be nice if they put a little tribute to Wowaka in the game... Either way, ready to see more news and announcements. 101 songs is a lot, so I AM READY.

I was shocked when I saw this news on twitter, but I guess it's not even that surprising it's coming to Switch instead of PS4 since Switch sold more than PS4 in Japan. ^^;

A Switch exclusive to top it off! I really expected Switch to be a side thing if they went that route considering it's previous PS exclusivity. But it makes sense since making a whole new game for a mere 10 new songs would be pretty eh... it's better as DLC! Plus they might be really waiting for the PS5 for a new Diva game in playstation systems hm...
Out of the 10 new songs we already know 2. I'm guessing 5 new songs for Miku and the remaining 5 a solo for each cryptonloid? I really hope so, I'm rooting for Roki and Doctor=Funk Beat!! Although I will admit I'm not too impressed with the scenarios shown for the new songs, they look pretty empty and dark - but they might be still in early development. But like others I'm hoping for the return of Diva room, fingers crossed they explain more things during Magical Mirai.

Module? If it's t-shirt that will be on top of the original outfit it sounds more like an accesory hm... but maybe they'll make exclusive to Miku lol. I don't know it sounds a bit weird without that many details.
The new stuff seems not that much but I hope it's to test the waters to see if there's interest on Projet Diva on the Switch and they'll try something bigger next time, but it's a very very good start, afterall it's a special game celebrating the 10 years and after around three years of nothing I couldn't be happy enough.
