I honestly didn't realize there were people who didn't like her V4 designs. I can see why they'd be received poorly, but I still really like them, personally.

I don't care that Miku Solid and Dark "don't sound like Miku" as some people say. I like how they sound, and that's good enough for me. (I think they still sound like Miku, but more mature.)

I also don't care that Miku has more voicebanks than Rin/Len/Luka/etc. I don't need a Vocaloid with a bunch of appends, I just need a few different options to choose from. I don't even use most of Miku's voicebanks anyways. (Also, Rin and Len come as a pair, so if they both had as many voicebanks as Miku, that'd be one large file, and they don't really need'em anyways.) Edit: Vocaloids like Mayu, for example, can already sing in a nice variety of genres without the need of multiple VBs. So it really depends on the voice as to whether or not extra VBs are needed.

I think Rin has decent English; in the right hands she can sound very nice.

I like Piapro Studio's UI better than the Vocaloid UI.

I have some...

-I like V5.

-I don’t like Meika Hime, it’s not like I just prefer Mikoto to Hime like most people. I dislike Hime’s voice, she’s like irritating version of Una’s Sugar voicebank.

-It bugs me how people act like Len's vocal is less valuable because it was provided by a woman ( this isn't even coming from some huge Len fan, I like him but there are certainly bigger fans than me ). I think he's a good addition to all the voicebanks out there as he adds more diversity to the voice types that you can choose from. Some people simply like boyish-sounding vocals that were achieved through voice-acting by a person with typically feminine voice and I think it's good we have option for such vocal. He has his own place among other masculine voicebanks that isn't devalued by not being typically masculine. Also if his provider were actually a boy his age updating him would have been an issue

Can we talk about utau too?
-I find Matsudappoi very overrated. I don't dislike his voice, I don’t think it’s THAT special although I see the appeal but the strong engine noise in his VBs just turns me off enough to not make me fall in love with his voice. I think his popularity mostly stems from being good quality by 2010-2013 utau standards and then being discontinued in 2014 making people want to own him for the sake of owning him. He’s medicore by today’s standards.

I never heard people say they didn't like the fact that Len's voice provider is a woman. It's kind of a weird argument, because TONS of anime boys are voiced by women voice actresses. o__0;

Matsudappoi = the guy version, Matsudappoiyo = the female version. Actually, his voicebank has been made public this year again so people can download it if they want to.

This mindset is mostly on the wiki but I've seen people say such things outside of the wiki too.

Ops! Sorry for the typo, anyways yea I know he's back up but what I mostly meant is that I believe he gained most of his audience during the period when he wasn't up for download, causing "Piko" effect. Honestly, I don't even see people using him significantly more now that he's up compared to when he wasn't available for download proving to me that it's not the vocal that people were really interested in but I could be looking in the wrong places I dunno ( also I'm not saying I dislike Piko, I certainly like him better than Matsudappoi ).

Edit:
I think the best way to describe it is to say that he was seen more as a collectable than a musical instrument.

Yeah, I honestly think having young male vocals be voiced by women is smart. That's why we can have updates for Len, but there's no hope for an Oliver update - his voice provider likely hit puberty a year or two after recording his vocal samples. I know there's a lot of negativity on the wiki, but is it so bad they seriously devalue cross-voicing?

That... that's just petty.

TBH most dislike for Len i see has more to do with the fact that he's frankly a lackluster vocal that has trouble standing alone than his VP specifically.

..........the only almost-vocaloid i remember getting VP hate was Luan.......

Does that make liking Len on his own an unpopular opinion, then? Because I adore him. I have a bad habit of defaulting to Len V4x Power when trying to decide on a singer for my covers. I keep having to remind myself that I've spent over $1,000 on Vocaloids, I've gotta use more than one for all of my covers. He's just so much fun to tune!

I actually think there's enough of a contingent on the like side, the dislike side, and the neutral side that none of them are particularly unpopular :bruno_lili:

Wow! You and I have similar opinions! XD

I like Hime's voice depending on who tunes her, but otherwise I don't really care for her voice. (No hate to her, though. I still like her a lot.)

Oh, good gosh! I was actually going to write the same thing about Len! I see crap all the time on the Vocaloid Wiki about how Len is lesser do to being voiced by a woman. How does that make him lesser, exactly? They say it's because he's not realistic but... unrealistic=/=bad. Imo, whether a vocal is good or not all boils down to personal preference and experience. As a Len user myslelf, I think Len is a very powerful and versatile addition to anyone's Vocaloid collection. You bring up an excellent point, too, about having a boy his age voice him. Considering the amount of time that passed between V2 and V4, they would have had to find a new VP to voice him. And it'd also be an issue because people use him for stuff like Spice! all the time. Tbh, the reason the idea of Rin and Len works so well is because they share a voice provider, which kind of goes with Wat's concept for them of "two bodies, one soul". (Sorry if this sounded a bit rant-y! ^^"

I agree on Matsudappoiyo as well. I decided to download him and give him a try, but I was kind of disappointed. I've heard good tuning of him, but overall I don't really care for him that much. I think Yokune Ruko's male vb serves as a similar alternative with less engine noise (assuming you're using moresampler; I've never used Ruko with the default resampler).

Admittedly I haven't been paying a lot of attention to V5, is it mostly disliked?
I thought people thought it was cool but tbf I really haven't heard many people mention it after its release.
I like the idea behind it, and I like a lot of the features, but, personally, it's a bit clunky for me. I blame it on being so used to V4 for the most part, but it also has a bad habit of freezing, crashing, and taking ages for basic change to apply. (On my computer, a single parameter adjustment, like tweaking the pitch or dynamics, can take up to half a minute to apply, which makes tuning a time-consuming pain.) But it DOES work for a lot of people, and those it works for have divided opinions about it.

I'm actually guilty as charged because I actually did downloaded him when he finally came back alive, but haven't really touched him much since than. I'm more focused on using Vocaloid to be honest. Piapro is much easier to use compare to UTAU for me. :gackpo_ani_lili:
I even joked a few times that Matsu was going to come back as CV04 before he came back.
In twitter I seen a quite a few fanart ( I don't follow a lot of Vocaloid users there ) of him so for Fanart, Matsu is doing good, I think. :matsudappoiyo_lili: I even like listening to him in youtube sometimes. I won't become a Matsu producer, but I will still like him. :meiko_ani_lili:

For Rin and Len English, I probably said it here before (or not) but I find Len English more enjoyable to use (In fact I have like about 3 songs made for him! :oliver_lili: ) I don't know if it's his tone ( after I had edited his Singer list to further improve his original voice) or he just really grew on me. But you have to be careful for his range when making original songs or doing covers. He can't sing low notes well (below F2) or super high ones.
Rin and Len are even different on their phonetics which is odd since they were made/released together and shared the same VP. So you can't make a track for one and just copy and play for the other one. You have to make sure to edit it.

Unpopular opinion: I hate Creepy's song "Clown" so much. It hurts my ears so much I couldn't last a minute and I don't know why other people find it enjoyable. :ring_ani_lili: "Not what it seems" is little better but it has some movements similar to "Clown" of hurting my ears and me hating it.

Vocaloid's goal is realism but you're right about producers looking for different things in vocaloid! And I honestly don't think Len's issues with realism EVEN stem from his vp being a woman ( I personally think he sounds boyish enough too but thats subjective opinion ). Also I think it's important to point out that male VBs voiced by men will give you the most authentic masculine vocal but male VBs voiced by women have their own unique tone that people might be looking for, it's good to have both options.

I was also thinking of Ruko! I really like using that VB. Also I exclusively use moresampler ahaha. Btw I don't mind listening to Matsu but tuning him was no fun, how was your experience?

Regarding V5, you need really powerful PC for it and I was lucky to own one because I do need to be able to run heavy software for my non-hobby stuff. I experience no crashing or freezing.

Ah, that explains it. My laptop's pretty average in terms of performance. I think it's a little unfair, personally - ramp up the price for the new editor, and then only make it fully-functional on higher-end/more powerful computers, whereas previous versions run just fine on run-of-the-mill computers. I'm really glad it works for you though! It seems like, when it functions as it should, it's a lot of fun to use. :miku_ani_lili:

Yeah, about that, I would like to ask you: had you watched any videos that contain Gynoid Talk Meika Hime in it?
