I'm also hearing mixed reports of Vsingers getting V6 voicebanks in the future, the information comes from the weibo announcement for the V5 pre-order, the reports range from people saying they're not 100% sure on it to citing it as a fact, so take it with a grain of salt.

That makes sense with one of them already on ace I imagine it's only a matter of time. Especially with how they just got v5s when v6 came out I imagine it's frustrating for a company

At this rate I’m 100% expecting them to announce Vsinger V6 AI, followed three minutes later by Yamaha dropping V7. Their perpetual tardiness seems to be preordained.

I don't know if it's on vsinger though. I remember when Ruby and Dex and Diana where in development it took a good year from them being finished to them being approved by Yamaha and them saying Yamaha was radio silence for months. So I could imagine vsinger is in a similar situation

Oh it's definitely a Yamaha problem, they have a track record of not talking to other companies. For example I remember when V5 released so many company twitter accounts were absolutely confused, even Macne Nana's official twitter posted confusion especially over of the lack of XSY. So I wouldn't be surprised if they just didn't inform them at all that V6 would be a thing.

Eeeh...I think it's more grey of an area, like Gumi V6 had been worked on since January of this year, the V5 updates have been worked on since mid-late V4 era.
I agree. Is Yamaha to blame? Sure, to some extent. They’re clearly not the best with communication and I won’t try to make excuses for that. But to say it’s exclusively Yamaha’s fault just feels like a reach to me, given the sheer length of time these VBs have been in the works and the fact that they’re the only company this has happened to three times now. If it all fell on Yamaha’s shoulders we’d be seeing a LOT more VBs developed for one generation released on the next generation.

decided i would share this here because, i thought i was just gonna go on to emailing yamaha about a "bug" but

i mentioned a few places that i had issues with some plug and plays, and it seems 'notebending' is the culprit. short notes just dont work in V6 it seems.
i made a video (timestamped to note bending example) to show this issue more clearly but moments later when i went to the website to find a email to maybe report this 'bug', only to see this addressed already. im pretty sure this article is describing exactly what was going wrong here, its the short notes, even if they carry into another note i guess. obviously, length depends, but the point is, this style of tuning is broken in V6...

this is disappointing to be honest. ive seen some people bring it up but imo this is kind of a big issue to me and really deters me from using V6. i was kinda hoping to use V6 over V5 because i do like the UI and how it functions in general :/ so idk if this "bug" will be fixed at all considering the FAQ mentioned it. it is odd to me they say its because humans cant sing short notes... because this was totally doable in every version up to now?? so thought id share and point this out for anyone not aware.

A V1 bug rears its teeth again, huh? And it's listed as intentional? Interesting.

Going forward for notebenders, I'm sure 1/32 notes will do fine. But it's a bummer for anyone who already tuned VSQs and wanted to at least start with those as a base for future covers.

Edit: Is this for AI and standard? Since supposedly V6 is just V5 reskinned for non-AI banks, I wouldn't get it if it was for all the banks. It would definitely call that claim into question at least on some level.

Honestly it hasn’t been detrimental thus far. The notes it considers too short to voice are almost always just pitch notes that can be easily replicated with, well, Pitch. It’s an issue I was annoyed with at first too, but in practice it’s largely a non-issue! The only real issue is, as you said, pre-existing VSQs, but it’s still easy to fix unless the VSQ uses such notes Everywhere.

this is for both AI voices and standard voices (the video i made shows it happening to both though i think i linked a timestamp so you may need to back it up!). while 1/32 notes do work, they are kind of 'too long' for most i think- but its subjective. but yes, this is a V6 problem across all voices. its V6 itself, not the banks!

sure detrimental would be extreme, but its not really a small issue- i dont notebend, but i have numerous files where that occurs and more likely than not if someone is notebending they probably did the whole file like that. the video i made with the example file, is notebended entirely with numerous 1/64. so, easy fix for the files that dont use it through out the whole thing but, sure. but a big problem for the many people who tuned this way, cant use v6 for their projects, and cant even really consider moving to v6 at all due to this problem. its a p common way of tuning, so its a real dissapointment this for some reason changed (...and im confused as to why it changed at all or really more confused as to why they can't at least carry to the next, longer note)

actually. now that i think about it, why do we even have 1/64th notes in v6 if they dont play :P this is mostly jokes because lengthening at that size is important but. i find it kind of funny now.

Because it sounds like it's really a bug they can't fix, so they threw that excuse around that "if a human can't sing like that, then neither can VOCALOID", ignoring that previous versions of the software could along with the rest of the competing software, and also ignoring that imposing human limits on a software is as stupid as limiting the calculations per second you can do with Excel (to give an absurd example).

But it is. If you download enough VSQx from the internet you will notice that a lot of people do tuning that way. I do it myself as well, since editing with the pitch parameter feels kinda finicky.
