new hibiki koto demo!! they're on a roll with these, aren't they
it feels like there's just an internet co intern who is having a LOT of fun with synthv LMAO... they haven't really done this with V6 (nor gumi, though she really does feel like 'testing the waters' territory now) so i wonder if they're warming up to the engine?
i think una is a matter of when and not if atp, genuinely. at least i hope so.

*zips open wallet*

though what is wrong with dt? why didn't they showcase those modes in her demo at all? i don't want to hear her being discount rose, i wanna hear what makes her unique!!

at least there will be those vocal modes demos on the site when they release...

HI Felicia! So nice of Dreamtonics to make a voicebank for me specifically - she sounds exactly like what I'm looking for in a vocalist. Those were some stunning belts!

Gosshhhh this Miki is so cute. I always liked her Vocaloid bank fine but there was a certain... edge to her voice that could get a bit unpleasant. This doesn't seem to have that, which I really appreciate. Also maybe it will be better about staying on pitch -- although I admit that's my Miki V2 experience talking, I haven't tried V4.

Her English and Chinese samples are so cute too! It took me a couple notes of that high octave to realize her Spanish clip was Saros's demo + the demo that revealed Spanish support on SV, very cute. As with many banks she doesn't seem to roll her R's, but I guess that's to be expected without the data. Still all very nice showings, and I really look forward to hearing more from her!!

SV Kiyoteru has me feelin some type'a way. He sounds so gentle... 🥺💖 I look forward to hearing more clips and his XLS too! Very exciting to see AHS original vocals get updates after their V4s

Seconded on lifesaving volume boost on these, super quiet in the original

Kiyoteru sounds great! So gentle, and still feels like he'll bring something new to the engine. It's also nice to have more Japanese male voicebanks with a character to go with them.

However

For Miki, I was hoping for something similar to Utau -> SynthV Teto, where the base tone is clearly retained, with a bit less engine noise and a bit more expressiveness. Unfortunately (at least in this demo) Miki's signature brightness feels absent. I know criticisms of ports are often dismissed with 'It's a different engine, we have to expect it to sound different', but I feel it's smart of developers to recognise when a voicebank's 'flaws' are now part of their iconic sound. There's no reason Dreamtonics can't experiment with recreating vintage effects!

For comparison, we still have dozens of new plug-ins designed to add vintage distortion to clean modern recordings. Tape distortion may have originally been the product of limitations, but its unique traits are now so widely enjoyed that we see them as a way to improve sounds. To lose that distortion would be a loss for music. So for me, it would be a loss if Miki ends up sounding pristine, especially if her base tone is significantly different. I already have a lot of soft, realistic voicebanks to choose from, and retaining a bit more of her robotic quirkiness would help her stand out.

Since she's still in development, I have my fingers crossed that AHS develops an option to make her closer to the original Miki, alongside a cleaner realistic recreation of her voice provider for people looking for both.
