I saw the leaks on discord earlier but I held my tounge until the official announcement to not spoil it for everyone else. Now that the cat's out of the bag as it were, here are my thoughts:
  • I! Love! The design!!! It's cute and I love how stylistically it's a combination of her Sweet and Spicy designs. Like it has an overall cute frilly idol look like Sugar but with the color accent/glowes and sporty vibes of Spicy. The two little Ottoman-Bo-s on the side of her hat having different expressons to reference this is also cute!
  • Her vocal modes are a lot more varied than I expected them to be! Girly got range! I love Downer it's somewhere between a whisper voice and a Miku Dark append like nasaly tone. Newer producers tend to prefer that sound, so I think they will get some mileage out of her.
  • (Gumi and Koto must be jealous that Una actually got a new outfit with her SV version lol)
  • Just going by presentation, Internet Co. clearly seems to have a lot of confidence in Una SV which makes me wonder how well Gumi SV did.
  • Manifesting a Wada Takeaki demo
Speaking of demos, we have two more of them here:

Haven't gotten to listen to them yet, but the thumbnail on the second one looks cute!

Edit: Another one!

Internet.Co doesn't own Otomachi Una but MTK Inc. They're pretty good at promoting her and do lots of collaboration with her. So it's more on them to provide Internet Co with demos, etc.

I held off making a predictions thread because I remembered Dreamtonic's tendency to drop major news at Christmas time, haha. Going by some familiar names in the screenshot, I'm optimistic that the new version will be backwards compatable. I wonder what they'll add, though? Apart from a few minor things like growl and glottal effects, I can't think of any significant gaps in SynthV's feature set.

I'm struggling to think what new features could be added to SynthV 2, considering that the current version of SynthV has been constantly improved since release (and some obvious missing features like growl could be added to OG SynthV. Even the current version had languages like Spanish added to it, so a promo about new languages for SynthV 2 wouldn't be as exciting as in the past with Vocaloid).

Please, Jesus. Maybe a new engine will make them want to do it for once. I thought they would just keep updating this version like Clip Studio Paint used to do.
I think they make a new version simply to bring in more money, since they don't get as much income if people just keep using the same version they bought years ago.

Well, at least they did confirm that French and Korean were in development. My guess is those will be locked behind SynthV 2

i think it's comparable to clip studio paint. New versions that don't change that much. Just meant to bring in more cash

Miss Retrocore, at your service!
I hope that they won't brick R2 versions if you get R3 voicebanks. I remember people on this forum saying if you activated R2 Medium5 voicebanks, they would brick the R1 versions.
Also some predictions I propose for features: I agree with Sele that French and Korean are probably for SynthV 2, but another prediction I have: the ability to shift accents, since I think I've heard that AI vocal synthesis is capable of this (e.g. switching a Mandarin vocal in cross-lingual between a Chinese accent or an American accent).

accents would be very interesting!

i feel like it would be a very bad move for them to not have some kind of cross compatibility, considering Vocaloid6 does (tho only so far back... but still, v4 covers many many years of banks). and not having *some* kind of discount for owners of the current version too, would again be a bad move considering Vocaloid did so with their releases (still costs a lot but hey... thats just how it is these days. always annoying to buy something "again" which is why i stopped buying vocaloid after v5 lol so i get the fact people wouldnt want to do it for Synth V).

but Dreamtonics has made some incredible technical strides in Synth V so I am hopeful for what is in store as I feel like the upgrades will be very easy to consider worth it, and as it stands the existing engine is not nearly as expensive as other vocal synths on the market, which is a plus at least, hoping they dont boost the price ridiculously.
