  • color coding things in fl studio makes it so much less chaotic, idk why i ignored that feature until now lol
    this cover had been a behemoth to mix, there are so many different parts with special effects and its driving me crazy lol.
    ooh, i finished tuning a cover today! i hope the mixing process goes well so it gets uploaded soon. i still have a cover i tuned months ago that i havent mixed yet cause the whole process was a disaster lmao (i kept losing my files;;;)
    years ago, i saw a prominent producer in the vocaloid community talk about how some people just aren't ever able to make good music and thats ok, but it really upset me when i read it. ive always struggled with understanding music theory and was convinced after reading that that maybe i was never going to be able to make music. last semester in my music theory class, our professor said anyone can learn music if they try, it just takes more time for other people, and i wish we saw that musical positivity in the vocaloid community more.
    anyway.
    i hate rubrics that have an extremely low word count but require you to write about so much. "you get 500 words max to answer these 15 questions, reference 5 different readings, use quotes, and discuss these 3 different topics"

    I also hate the opposite:

    "Write about (very simple topic). Minimum 5 Paragraphs, 5300 words.

    ugh, i feel that. especially on papers that want me to write about something personal in my life or an experience ive had...i have a really hard time writing about myself so when it also has to be 5 pages long i just accept defeat and lie the whole paper.
    i genuinely like to write essays, but i hate formatting. it's all fun to write the stuff but then i have to make a cover page a specific way, do citations a specific and tedious way, align the paper just right, make my text look a specific way, blahblahblah i just want to WRITE

    God, I FEEL THIS. My Comp 2 professor was a Godsend, because she wasn't too strict about formatting so long as our papers had everything we needed (I left her class with a 102.8%). Formatting and all those nonsense formalities suck the fun out of writing.

    THEY DO!!! I have an essay to write today and like I was so pumped but it's my first one in this class and I found out my professor is super nitpicky about formatting and I just ugh I do not want to make a cover page and have my introduction be a specific format and have to do citations like 5 times over i just wanna WRITE
    also i dont wanna do citations at all because i bought the wrong edition of the book and now all my page numbers are WRONG and i dont want her calling me out for it lmao

    My uni faculty isn't too annoying about formatting, but it depends what course you're doing. Some courses ask for different referencing systems (e.g. Harvard, Chicago, Vancouver, etc.), and some lecturers get a bit nitpicky with how the pages are oriented.

    I really pity American students who are forced to buy an overpriced textbook written by their lecturers. In most British unis, lecturers just write up a list of recommended reading, and while some add notes saying that we should be compelled to read certain texts, in reality we don't really need to buy anything. At best, we can either rent the book from the uni library or read an online copy of it (online texts have been a godsend to me, both as a commuting student and during the pandemic). At worst, we just don't bother looking at it lol.
    my teacher kept calling me "katelynne" all class, which is...not my name, but close enough i guess

    God, I don’t know why, but I kinda love it when people get my name horribly wrong. I had a customer a few days ago call me Debora. I mean... they got the first letter right at least... :clara_ani_lili:

    Debora :clara_ani_lili: My name is Katie which is NOT short for Katelynne, but everyone and their mothers always thinks it is so I get called Katelynne more than my real full first name. I should just change it at this rate lmao! :teto_lili:

    My real name is Laura, but people have mangled it into Lauren and Lara in the past. I've even had one woman call me Sarah. :ROFL:
    everytime i try to keep a journal or agenda i just cant commit to it, but ive been watching so many bullet journal videos and wanna make one just for the artsy craftsy aspect....knowing full well ill never actually use it as a journal lmao!

    I've been using journals since college to keep track with work, but I've always been jealous of the people who go all artsy with theirs, since I know I will never have the time or patience to do something that pretty lol. Same thing with people on Instagram who turn their lecture notes into works of art. (Like, how do you find the time to do that? The most I can do is switch up my pen colours. orz)
    im excited for my birthday....i am going to eat macarons
    I've been especially lethargic today, recently I've been struggling with a certain part of my health again that had kind of "gone away" for the last few months but is reemerging now. The lethargy is making it so hard to do anything!
    im only taking 12 credits instead of 16 this semester because i struggle with remote learning, but honestly having only 4 classes has been so much nicer and less stressful, i think im only going to do 12 credits from now on.

    At the risk of hijacking the conversation, this term I'm getting to experience the "fun" of remote learning from both sides of the coin. I'm TA'ing a class of 100+ students and it's quite awkward. It's easy to see how anyone would struggle with online learning.

    That was honestly a major factor in me taking this semester off. I've never done well in online classes unless they were summer or interim classes. My GPA wouldn't survive this.

    I managed to finish my undergrad course within three years (the usual amount of time to finish a British course), but by all means, if you need the extra time, go ahead with it. I know some people who started uni in full-time, but had to drop to part-time in order to cope because assignment deadlines in some British classes can be brutal. I was forced to do my Master's part-time because it was the only option available for that particular course (I guess my uni was initially trying to attract mature students), but in hindsight, I'm glad it's taken me around another year to finish it because judging from the assignments I've had to do over the last couple of years, I think I would have had a nervous breakdown if I had to try and finish a bunch of 4,000 word essays and a 15k word dissertation within a year. ^^;
    i have a photo in my room from my graduation that has someone who i had a nasty falling out with in it, so i cut them out and put a pic of miku in their place---
    i wish my computer had space for more vocaloid vbs, i had to get rid of prima awhile ago because i had no space on my computer and now i want to get lily, but id have to uninstall something to make room for her and i have nothing i want to get rid of!

    If you haven’t already, I recommend investing in an external hard drive, saving your installers onto it, then deleting them from your computer. I did that recently and was shocked — my installers alone took up over 100GB! I’d do the same with your downloads and then delete them all too, because downloads are a major space waster, especially if it’s something you don’t immediately need.

    Hearing you say "Tone Rione" makes me think of some sort of weird pasta dish.
    :ring_ani_lili:

    It's supposed to be "toe-nay ree-own". (So like "own", not "on" as in the opposite to "off".) XD;

    There are only 5 vowels in Japanese, so I really recommend learning them! a = ah, e = ay, i = ee (like the letter E), o = oh, u = ooo (like "Oooh, shiny").

    Yee i put it through google translate years ago to hear it which is a bad idea cause it just does accented English reading if you put in romanji XD I'm aware of the vowel sounds that has always been in my head of absolute correct

    i thought tone rione also sounded like a pasta, lol. i knew it wasn't pronounced rione but my brain wanted it to rhyme. :clara_ani_lili:
