  • My efforts to conserve energy and save on electricity not only paid off, they far exceeded anything I could have imagined. My mom told me to budget $100 for my first electric bill. The bill: $14.44.

Welp! That's $85 that I should put into savings but will instead probably use to buy more fun things for Peter and Lucy! Lucy's adjusted well, but Peter's been restless as of late, so I'd like to help with that.

Do you have any advice on how to bring the usage down
    peaches2217
    peaches2217
Yeah! Keep the lights off in any room you're not actively using; invest in a standing fan or two and have those going instead of the air conditioner. I recommend turning the air conditioner off completely and using the fans, as a few fans going at max speed 24/7 doesn't even come close to using as much energy as an AC unit does, but if it's just too damn hot, manually turn it on and off so you can control when you need that air. That's about all I've done!

Now that things have calmed down, I'll post this again! I chose a really bad time originally 😅 God I'm already a Maki simp, but this song does go a little low for her, so I'm gonna wait until I have her full banks to determine whether she'll perform better with more pitches or if I need to pitch the song itself up.

My goodness, Peaches! How can I even begin to describe how much I love this? If ever hear you say you're not confident in your tuning skills ever again after this I will slap you silly!!
How did you tune her so well?!!?! Is this her AI or standard?!?!! I don't need sleep, I need answers!!
    peaches2217
    peaches2217
Thank you so much!! This is her Standard. I felt it fit the song a bit more, but again, once I get her full I'll test them both out some more! I'm really glad you like it!
Welp... SVS crashes every time I try to export. This is odd.

I've noticed it's been suffering from instability with increasing frequency. I do hope it gets sorted out!

As static-oceans and myself have discovered, changing the export directory just before exporting causes the latest version of SVS to lock up. To get around this, I just save in the default directory location. Kind of a silly bug, but a bug nonetheless.

Yeah, that's what does it for me. I can live with that for now!
Lucy and Peter have done a near-180 in personality. Peter’s acting more independent, almost standoffish, while Lucy is snuggly and needy and bursts into absurdly loud purrs for such a tiny cat if I so much as press a fingertip to her fur. (Actually, she’s laying on my hip as I type this, purring away.) I’ve got a cat tree coming in next week, so hopefully that’ll officially make this apartment the paradise they so desperately deserve!
I wanna hurry up and post a Maki cover for quick clout, but the last time I tried it it was a disaster that I’m fairly certain was universally hated… that’s more or less the same reason I still haven’t publicly covered anything with Rikka, heh 😅 I suppose it’s a lose-lose. No matter when I post it’ll never be the best, or even good.

I guess the plus side to that is, when you’re as overwhelmingly mediocre as I am, you’re under no pressure to put anything out quickly. So I can take my sweet time with her at least!

Who hated your covers? I'm not mad, I just wanna know. :sweetann_ani_lili:(kdjfkjf I'm kidding, but who in their right mind would dislike your covers???)
Dunno if it helps, but I think your covers are really great. I mayyyy have listened to "I'm Sorry I'm Not Honest" more times than I can recall, and then shared it with some people because I liked it that much.:kokone_lili:
Edit: Also wanna put it out there; nothing wrong with making covers with synth you like for clout! To me, making stuff with a synth just shows your love and support! If you genuinely want to use her or Rikka, don't let anything stop you!:miki_ani_lili:
Aaaaaaaah I’m happy! When I get home I’m gonna plug Maki into a duet I’ve got going between Genbu and Saki. I wanna see how she’ll respond and how well she goes with him~
I feel like an awful, awful mother. My mom handled buying food for the cats back home, so I never bothered checking ingredients and such. I got Hill's Science Diet for Lucy and Peter, thinking "It's expensive and highly recommended by vets! It's perfect!"

Its second fucking ingredient is wheat powder. And its third is damn-near pure gluten. No no no no no no no, that won't do at all. Now I'm going down the rabbit hole of premium cat foods. Here's hoping I can find something better for them that they'll still love!

Orijen is a good brand, I believe my cats were on it for a while. If you need a prescription food at any point, Blue Buffalo makes a natural one. It has a little bit of wheat grass, but otherwise no wheat or soy.

Thank you for the recommendation!! Luckily the local Petco has excellent deals on high-quality brands, so I won't have to go too far or get it shipped from a ways off.

Well that hurt. $65 for a 12lb bag of food. God help me. But hopefully it'll last a good while, and they'll flourish with it!
The babies are finally comfortable enough to play! I noticed earlier that Lucy was tracking a bug and acting agitated, so I decided to introduce toys into the room. She briefly latched onto a catnip banana, but then she flipped her shit over a feather toy, so we played for a good long while; Peter eventually joined in, and now he's guarding the feather, stick and all. He keeps growling and won't let it go, but he's showing no signs of genuine aggression (he doesn't swat Lucy if she gets too close, and when I tried getting the toy away from him he didn't bite or swipe at me), so for now I'm assuming he's just being a mighty hunter celebrating his kill and letting him enjoy it.

It warms my heart seeing them act so playful and comfortable, especially shy little Lucy. I'll have to stock up on more feather toys.

I didn't realize Kong made cat toys! I'll have to check them out.

Another feather toy is definitely first priority. The feather bundle broke off of its stick and they both cried while I fixed it, and now Lucy is sulking because Peter's claimed it again.

my cat wont play with anything other than hair ties now and we have a million toys laying around he wont touch :cul_lili: he used to LOVE feather toys until suddenly he decided he's scared of them and runs away if you bring one out.

Yeah I can't leave any hair ties around either because one of my cats has this weird habit of putting them in their water bowl lol?? He does the same with my bras and that is fjsjgmsk so weird and annoying

As for actual cat toys, my cats are all basic and like those stuffed catnip things if you wanna try those out!
I genuinely love Dancing in Binary, and I've been replaying it a lot. Part of me wants to rewrite it a bit once I get my hands on Maki English and make it more understandable, further bringing out its chipper beauty, but at the same time I worry that'd be insulting to the original producer... for being written by someone that I presume doesn't speak English, it's genuinely good.
Alright, names have almost been decided on! The boy will be named Peter, both in honor of one of Patuk's cats long-since gone, and because, well, Pete. I can't help it.

As for the girl! I've narrowed it down to three names. That's where you step in, VVN! I was leaning towards goddess and divine names, but to go with Peter, my heart's become set on some more down-to-earth names. Please let me know your thoughts!

Today I welcomed two wonderful souls into my home and heart, a pair of kitties rescued from a hoarding situation! The boy is my cuddle buddy already, and the girl, while still unsure about me, is slowly making herself comfortable. I need name ideas!

are you looking for more "human" names or more "goofy" names? o:
my cats name is "hollow noir" so im not very good at serious human names akskdk

I was leaning more towards human names! I'm heavily considering both Lucy and Athena for the girl. And maybe Gaia as well, because I'm a shameless BokuMono slut.

    Athena is so pretty!! :mirai_ani_lili:
Maybe if you go with that you can follow with the mythology theme for the boy. He could be like Apollo or Ares or Zeus or Hermes or something.
I’m counting down the days until Maki’s glorious arrival. 18 days (Japan time, I think)! I’ve got all four SynthV banks preordered, and I’m SERIOUSLY considering getting her CeVIO starter pack… God, she’s literally the only CeVIO AI product that hasn’t made me go “Eeaugh.” That’s worth the money.

(Plus I can make her read cringe Creepypasta. I wanna make her read Blueberries and put the town theme from Friends of Mineral Town over it.)

I'm def waiting a bit, but if I do end up liking her once I see people do stuff with her, I think I'll cave in and get her ENG banks eventually! Her accent is the cute kind that I like in a bank (the kind that is noticeable but doesn't make everything she says totally incomprehensible, y'know what I mean?) and I'm excited to see what people do with her 👀👀👀
Singing is my biggest curiosity, but I am interested in what people do with her talk voices too!

TBH I might go back to my roots of like 2013-2014 Vocaloid collecting and shoot for getting all the English SynthV banks, esp since I already backed Solaris and will probably spring for Eleanor once her full bank comes out!

Selling merch would be a great idea! AHS has been really good about trying to include her English with stuff, so I def want to support it since it's turned out to be nice quality (as far as I can tell haha). I'll probably wait for my birthday though asflksdjf my wallet will not be happy with me otherwise
CuriosityStream has made me its bitch already. $2.99/mo for unlimited, ad-free documentaries. Oh God, I forgot how big a slut I am for documentaries. And they're excellent, high-quality, top-dollar documentaries at that! I was quite busy yesterday, but I made time to watch one on the body casts of Pompeii and the extinction of Neanderthals. I'll probably waste most of tonight watching even more.

I was worried I wouldn't use my maternal grandma's housewarming gift to me (a Roku TV) all that much, because there's just not enough on Netflix or Apple TV or Discovery+ that justifies the subscription prices, and I forewent cable to get better internet. But for $2.99/mo, I'll never be bored again. I'm so happy!

Throwback to my mom sighing heavily and shaking her head when I informed her I didn't get cable. My internet plan is $50/mo, and even if I subscribe to Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, that's still cheaper than the cheapest non-internet-inclusive cable plan from the same company. I'll take the fast internet and selective streaming over paying $75/mo for three channels that won't always show the programs I enjoy, thank you.
Ah! Can I gush more about my girlfriend?
It's a slow process, but little by little Patuk is helping me find ways to manage my anxiety and actually get things done. I'm slowly rediscovering that, once I start something in earnest, I can usually follow all the way through; it's the thought of starting, along with all of the other multiple things I need to do in a short period of time, that kills me.

Yesterday I decided to hang ten articles of clothing. I got 80% of my entire wardrobe in its designated place, and I need only buy more hangers to get the rest. Tonight I decided to take the instructions for my cubical/TV stand out of the box and assess the assembly's difficulty, then maybe get the first step started if I had the energy. My hands are covered in blisters because all I had was a tiny screwdriver I nabbed from work, and I still need nails to nail on the back, but that thing is otherwise fully assembled.

And just two days ago I was crying to Patuk about how overwhelmed I am, because those were the biggest of the many, many things I had to get done this week. She let me rant and then gave me gentle suggestions, encouraging me when I came up with my own. And here we are, mid-week, and half of the week's to-do list is behind me.

I get frustrated because I keep promising I'll improve and heal and I feel like I never do. But I think this proves, at least a little bit, that I AM getting better, and that I'll be able to truly repay her unwavering support. That's my hope.
    Ah, I've actually had a productive night(/morning)!

Laundry is the single most exhausting chore for me. I love cleaning, cooking is fun, but laundry? I'll let clothes pile up for weeks because the thought of washing, drying, sorting, hanging, and folding them fills me with dread.

So, uh, I hadn't even taken my clothes out of the boxes I moved them in with. I've been living here for about three weeks and I just pick clothes from the box each day.

But! I bought a few packs of hangers, and I decided that, since it's so exhausting, I would just deal with ten pieces a day. I got nine shirts and a pair of jeans on their hangers, and I realized that everything under them was just socks and underwear, most of which were already sorted, so I could always get them out of the way.

Two hours, half a liter of water, thirty hangers, and six stocked-full drawers later, my clothes worries are no more.

Ah! That means the worst part is DONE, never to be worried about again! And now that I don't live in a house that's so hoarded I can't reach my closet or dresser, maybe laundry won't be such a daunting task anymore. Hopefully.

I feel you... I've done the same for so long. Most of them are quite wrinkled now. But I truly do wanna break out of that habit! Knowing when I do laundry that I'll actually have some place to put my clothes makes me feel a little more motivated.

I'm lazy as hell when it comes to laundry as well - I sometimes let fresh clothes pile up on a chair or on my bed whenever I'm in a lazy mood or my executive functioning is playing up, and I only put stuff away in my wardrobe when said pile becomes a mountain.
