After listening through the demo songs, I think I like Hime's voice better. Mikoto isn't bad by any means, I'm just not a huge fan of mature female voices. She might grow on me more though.

Their designs are cute and overall pretty nice, and I like Miwashiba's art style. To me the only slight downer with their design is the horns. Why are they there? If they would symbolise something is one thing, but somehow they don't go well with the costume design. I'm having a hard time deciding, but I'd say I like their Talk designs more than Vocaloid designs.

Oh, the two are also getting additional materials, including official MMD models.

I think it's supposed to be kind of a joke? With them having shrine maiden like outfits but then seemingly also being demons. I think it's cute and I've seen a lot of people be really happy about the horns, so I guess it could also just be there to make them more unique.

I love both of their voices a lot!! In my opinion the engine noise isn't that bad and I'm not even bothered by Himes airyness. I'm very sure that she will sound especially good in creepy songs haha. Mikoto sounds really great too, her voice is nice! (And I immediately knew that her solo demo song was made by Kairiki Bear, plus points for that.)

I've waited until some demos dropped before posting in this thread, since the voice type always makes or breaks a VB for me.

I think I like Mikoto more right now - she sounds similar to Flower, but why on earth are producers already trying to give her a cursed moe voice? ;_; It's prominent in the demos and it's already driving me nuts. Hime doesn't sound super interesting to me, but she does have a nice, airy voice.

The demon girl designs are also interesting - I'm expecting fanart featuring the two with Sachiko or/and VY1.

To me the only slight downer with their design is the horns. Why are they there?
They have horns because of the Red/Blue Oni trope probably
This trope is about two individuals (or occasionally, factions or civilizations) that are significantly linked together somehow (such as through a rivalry, friendship, being siblings, co-workers, competitors, etc.) that have differing personalities and, with it, often different approaches to the world in general, especially whatever they might be competing in/for/over. This, of course, gives them something to butt heads about, since their manner of acting may rub each other the wrong way and each is sure that their way of doing things is right.

I really want to hear them used by others before I judge for sure but so far I really do like how Mikoto reminds me of a softer Flower. I like Flower but sometimes she's just TOO strong for me sdjflkdsj

^ Ah, guess that explains it. Thanks!
I'm still not a big fan of the horns though, but that's just me.

I'm excited to hear what other producers can do with the two. Based on the demos so far, they have potential. While I like Hime's voice better (based on the demos), she might not stand out as much as Mikoto. But then again, especially the Japanese Vocaloid community traditionally tends to prefer cute high pitch voices over the more mature voices. But since they come in one package, they should appeal to fans of both voice types.
What gynoid needs to do now is get the Meikas' name out there. At least the lack of V5 loids is going to help them a lot.

I like them both, and I agree with what was said about them being ideal for Japanese horror songs. That being said, their ex-voice samples DON'T sound like them at all.

Right now I like both of them equally but I think I will start to prefer Hime eventually. It seems that unlike Anon and Kanon, people are giving both equal attention (at least from what I'm seeing on VA) instead of where Vocaloid fans usually prefer Kanon over Anon.

It's not just me, but you guys are also "releasing news", huh~.
Speaking of which, I have an announcement.
The VOCALOIDs Meika Hime and Mikoto are the newest VOCALOID5 voice banks. As the first third party Vocaloids, they come equipped with exclusive Attack/Release Effects. You can make many vocal expressions more simpler than before!

They have their own Attack and Release pictures. I wonder if you can use them on other Vocaloids or if it's just them? Maybe this is the new equivalent to plugins (like how Fukase had his robotic voice style in V4)? Also, some of the ornamentation is airy, so maybe that explains why some of the songs had a metallic sound to it, maybe they were told to demonstrate the new Attack and Release effects even if the producer might not have usually used something like that?

GynoidTalk Meika Hime and Mikoto are based on AITalk's high quality text to speech software. As the person in charge, I'm not sure how to explain, but it makes "good voices". You can test out the voices on the product page, so please do!

Furthermore, the "Meika Hime and Mikoto voice pack" have tons of voices from Hime and Mikoto you can use in various situations!
They have close to 2000 files combined! They are resources to spice up your videos.

Moreover, when Meika Hime and Mikoto go on sale 2019/3/30, useful material for making videos will start to be distributed! Thins such as MMD models made by @mqdl , and standing pose drawings by Niijimaakiichi ( @niijimaakiichi )! Look forward to their distribution!

As the first third party Vocaloids
Sora who

(though I'm aware Sora was basically ready for release in 2017 as a V4 and AHS was just waiting for Yamaha to release V5. I guess Gynoid means that Hime and Mikoto are the first Vocaloids specifically developed for V5?)

anyway I really like their designs!! I'm not super big on either of their voices, but I really love (surprise, surprise) their talk banks, so I'll probably pick those up sometime soon. I just wish they weren't so expensive orz

The Lightning Strike
Voice thoughts: I like them both! They are strong and characterful.

Overall I definitely prefer Mikoto. Hime in the first demo had me very concerned: she sounded like she was singing at the other end of a bad walkie talkie. However, she showed she was capable of not whispering in the second demo, so all's well.

Mikoto has a nice deep voice, I like the tomboyish quality. I'm not surprised people are trying to moe-ify her though, given her mismatched moe design. Both have a bit of engine noise, but I think that will appeal to fans of V2s and suit the electronic/rock music that is popular in the Vocaloid scene at the moment.

Yes, it looks like Hime and Mikoto were the first announced VOCALOIDs recorded and programmed entirely for V5. We know Sora was actually being worked on before Akari, anyway. I suspect that the ornamentations will be unique to the voicebanks as they're likely recorded by the VP themselves as extra samples, much like vocal fry samples in UTAU, etc.

They speak standard dialect:

Gist: They speak in standard Japanese dialect for Gynoid Talk. (Not gonna translate it properly cause I highly doubt anyone here knows Hakata dialect.)

Their gender is undefined:

2. What is their gender?

They're not established as human, so... I wonder what happens in the spirit world? As the person in charge, I think "having a non-defined gender is valuable".

Their relationship is undefined:
3. Are they sisters?

This is a realistic conversation, but "It's undecided." These two descended to the human world together, so they are related in some way.

Gynoid Talk is shrouded in mystery for the sake of another company:
4. What is "the equivalent" to Gynoid Talk?

We can't say without revealing another company's name, so I will simply call it "2".
It would be cool if other companies like Crypton were also working on a proper talk bank for their characters. I'm not sure if this sounds like another company has also been working on a talk voice currently, or if one in the past did.

You will be able to buy Mikoto and Hime separately (download only):
5. Can't it be cheaper?

For the Amazon download version, you can buy Hime and Mikoto separately!
(Sorry, it's still being prepared, but you will be able to buy it for 10,000 yen (about $89.96)
I guess for people who only want Mikoto, you will be able to buy just her (by the 30th?).

Their separate product names:

This was an earlier tweet, but their individual product names are going to be "Meika Hime" and "Meika Mikoto".

I wonder if the gender thing will cause arguments, kind of like with Flower. Although I have to admit, I am wondering what would Hime and Mikoto's pronouns be since they have a non-defined gender. I immediately thought it would be "they/them" but I guess the pronouns could also be anything, such as she/her and he/him?

Hopefully it doesn't cause arguments. I think any pronouns will be okay to use since it's undefined
