This is sort of related to @IO+'s profile post, but it ended up being a little off-topic:

I think a good vocal synth song comes from at least two areas. First (though possibly less-importantly), that the lyrics are written well, and in a way that both clearly and artistically attempts to convey ideas that are important to the producer. Second, that the music be good--that it embodies the appropriate mood, has an appropriate energy flow that shifts and moves through the different parts of the song, and has both constant elements that hold the song together and elements that vary and make the song change pleasingly over time.

The beautiful part of hobbies is to take a sweet time to learn and actually enjoy whatever they like and make a thoughtful investment for what they really need but these day i feel like peoples focusing on buying what their community expect them to buy. Hype can make peoples desperate.

It's not my business to tell peoples how to use their saving. I just think that it's crazy how peoples today are so desperate for attention.

I didn't mean or attempt to rant or venting out, just curious. What and why it go or it end up this way.

If anyone has or can find an off vocal for 星雨之夜 (night of rain and stars) by ilem I would be eternally grateful I found one on baidu but I can't make an account ;-;

I made a YT short covering building a basic vocal effects chain, with compression and reverb. Mainly because I've been dabbling in Shorts a little to see if they can help grow a channel, but also because one of the things that bothers me about some covers I come across is raw vocals that just have their volume turned up.

vocaloid things you're certain will absolutely never happen?

for me, avanna talk, or a talk version of any other zero-g-loid. pretty sure zero-g is a music software company and has zero interest in making talk voicebanks for its singers (vocatone on the other hand...i can imagine them making talk voicebanks for theirs tbh. same with ruby's team, and maybe pfx as it seems al and ann are getting maghni voicebanks)

this is mostly a bummer for prima because i don't think anyone speaks in a sung opera tone??? like, avanna's obviously sung too, but she's clear in articulation and her voice is a bit closer to a "normal voice" one would speak in

it'd just be cool to have english-language character talk voices, especially in non-american accents as american accents dominate global voice acting (e.g. anime and game dubs, as opposed to local programs like BBC in the UK and RTE in Ireland)

I like kagamines, but I really hate that Power VB became the Standard ones
I know Act1 and Act2 were intended to be a little powerfull and then when the appends came out the Power vb became Act3 but I think this limit the range of the voices

Act 1 and Act2 can sound powerfull but also fit soft musics and sound like Normal voices, power ones just work as power and cant fit very well in soft music because they sound like they are pushing its voice to sound hard

I wish some day Crypton creates an real Act3 with more normal voice, because among with Luka, they are the only vb without a Normal voice

Is like remove "Original" vb from Miku package, yeah you have the rest of the appends but you dont have a "Normal" voice to sound "stable"

I've heard a really good cover of Gakupo whisper after years od haven't heard Gakupo
Is surpricing how his Native vb has a problem simmilar to Kaito straight vb
The appends sounds way better than the voicebank that should be a "Normal" voice

I think even Gakupo power sounds better as a "Normal" gakupo vb more than native one

I'm gonna be honest, sometimes I feel insecure about using old voicebanks because everyone seems to be moving on to the fancy cutting-edge AI technology and I'm still using concatenative voicebanks from the V3-V4 era (with the exception of maybe Chis-A, who's free anyway). Yes, I can use SynthV Basic, but since that's NG for commercial use I feel like I can't use it to make original songs lest I eventually sell them.

Then again, my idealistic 12-year-old self specifically wanted to be a Vocaloid producer, and the things I experimented with before purchasing Miku, such as UTAU, Sharpkey/Deepvocal, and the free versions of SynthV (R1 evaluation and R2 Basic), and even RenoidPlayer and Sinsy before I even had access to anything more than a Chromebook (I had a PC I could use since before Web SynthV came out), were just to get me ready. Part of me just wants to honor my tween-age wishes, and I'm also super used to Piapro Studio by now.

But at the same time, in both the vocalsynth fandom and music-production communities, people are largely leaving the old stuff behind in favor of AI-powered stuff, especially SynthV at least in the West. Many of my favorite vocalists are getting updates- and for those who likely aren't, fans are screaming for them to, acting like their companies are criminals for not giving them such- and some new vocals are super tempting too, especially if I could potentially use them well in my favorite genres. But I can't afford it right now, and even when I'm set up with a job I can't just go spending all over the place no matter how much people say "you should totally get X Y and Z!"

I think Gakupo should be Weird in a nerdy way, not in a creepy way. Like yes king I WILL listen to your infodumps about Heian period history and the Bushido code

Woaaaah in the beginning I was a bit worried about the very simple setting (though it was more elaborated and livelier than the simple one in the first clip shown on TV) but JESUS, SLIMANE YOU DARED DOING IT THE NOUGARO WAY AND SINGING THE BLASTING BEFORE-END CHORUS AFAR FROM THE MIC LIKE AN OPERA SINGER, RESPECT !!! I got the shivers!!

Over the past few years, I have noticed that some companies that produce vocal synthesizers are ambitious and innovative, producing new features that exceed public expectations. Other companies may not produce new and exciting features, but they are committed to updating their current voice banks to keep up with the latest vocal synthesizer technologies. These companies should be supported by all of us.

However, there are certain companies that are currently in their "comfort zone" instead of pushing towards the advancement of vocal synthesizer technologies. Instead of being the actual pioneers with proven results, they cling to nostalgia and release half-baked products. They are delaying important updates that are needed to the current voice bank and giving empty promises to their customers. Meanwhile, they keep squeezing every last drop of "value" from their own characters. It's no wonder that more and more people are becoming dissatisfied with their attitude. Despite the complaints, these companies remain blind to their shortcomings and continue to live in their own fantasy world. Unfortunately, there are still fans who are blind to these issues and continue to blindly support these companies while criticizing those with legitimate concerns.

I know that Circus and Crusher's relationship was toxic, but man did they write some certified bangers together. (listening to reuploads of Wildfire and Crystalline)

Usually there's that one song of Soprano that is really moving, but today it hurts even much more and I do hope I won't add anyone more to the list...

I bought Haruno Sora last night after I remembered she had a lite version and I fell in love all over again ;-; I've been working on this on and off with Feng Yi for a year or so lol and thought Sora would be a good fit! Still have fine tuning to do also Sora has some consistency problems in tone in her higher octaves and it is annoying because it isn't every note just some ;-;
