    i want to keep the name "xed" for my utau but i also admittedly like the aesthetic of japanese characters for a name instead bc thats kinda 'image' i want my utau to play. like a typical japanese virtual idol. but honestly unsure how i potentially edit their name to fit the characters....

    i was think thinking of just writing it as "sedu" and "zedu"? but i also kinda wanna change the name completely bc its such a basic sounding name lol

    BUT i was also thinking of maybe writing it almost like a pun (not the word im looking for) as メヅ "medu" because "me" looks like an X in katakana. kinda cute? and putting it through google translate to check (to make sure its not a weird word) is just Mez. might be a good reference to make to the old name while rebranding to a new name!

    i could go on FOREVER about what a good, easy to read vocaloid design is tbh. i study character design and its what i tend to specialize in so noticing when its hard to simplify a design comes to my mind often

    dug up an old cover i had started of my utau dueting with flower in "magnet" and ya know what. im gonna be self indulgent tonight and fix it up with my 2020 bank. ill post it tomorrow. kinda in a mood to actually get on reviving my utau so, maybe some designs will be brainstormed this week too

    spike is definitely one of those utaus where on the surface ur like. oh yeah, cute dog. but then you learn his lore and find out he was a homophobe. hes not anymore but god. what a character trait to give (hes also been updated as asexual now? i think trying to explain why he was repulsed before??)

    i dont keep up w spike or the creator at all but they still draw art of their utau which looks lovely!

    did anyone here ever use 8tracks?? i used it heavily in 2013-2016 when i was super into fandoms.... and i totally forgot i made some flower mixes when i first started getting into vocaloid with flower.... very nostalgic seeing again (it includes some very old, lost covers i made too)
    this site is kinda broken now but i wanna link these- they should play fine because theyre covers but i suggest using chrome, this site is mega broken on firefox.

    man i dont plan to go on about this all too much but now seeing xingchen it really rings to me how much a lot of these designs- namely ones like... sonika or xingchen dont even ring to me as minors when i see them. im not... into lore or whatever canon companies write, i never seek it out. i see these designs that honestly just look like sexy adults and then boom- theyre minors. this is probably the worst sideline result to the normalization of sexualizing these characters this way. like, some of them do just look like kids but a lot of them are matured way past the age theyre apparently supposed to be. and you cant blame casual lurkers like myself for never questioning if they were an adult or not.... and that sucks, bc i am very aware of the affect of this kinda impression. ive been directly affected by the casual pedophilia racing through spaces like this. no one is truly immune to it and this is the problem with the way its been normalized.

    sorry for double post, i just dont want to comment on the overall thread
    everyones posts in the fee thread are great and well thought out, no issues there. i just dont plan to comment bc its a very triggering topic to my own history on the internet, affected by such pedophilic content, and i cant put myself through reading it when i know everyones on the same page anyways. i think ive already vented my feelings of disconnect from vocaloid fandom and no doubt that whole thread summarizes why. loli vibes have even leaked into flower with her Talk design art style and its 100% why i project my hope of flower not being revived for cevio when cevio is showing itself to be like...this.

    i am glad i am in an area where the majority looks at fee and things its gross. but its a shame knowing this is only a small corner of the fandom. i hate being around this kinda thing.

    man its been so long since i tuned. i realize i tend to speed through things all the time, tuning included. im trying to take my time in a way that i am pleased with the process and results tho. but i also accept my tuning style is quite simple.

    considering how cevio has been doing................im almost kinda okay having heard zero progress of what is to come of v flower cevio AI lol... do i want more flower? of course. but if that project dies and maybe springs up in some other form not related to cevio, thatd be neat too.... i can hope...

    something kinda tells me its flat out cancelled or, with how rocky cevio has been, just incredibly delayed.

    it is so interesting to me how flower's popularity as a vocal has really exploded. like i think it just feels normal now how much shes being used but as someone whos been a fan since her release, it was really a slow build, and almost feels like it just exploded after some interesting unique takes on songs w her voice started to catch people's attention. i cant be the only one seeing this lol.... shes definitely had more popularity in time but im quite shocked by how many *popular* original songs i see coming up with her.

    For almost every Vocaloid, I can think of another they could be mistaken for, even by an enthusiast. And for every Vocaloid there's at least one other that could sing the same VSQ without changing how the song 'feels'. But there's nothing that sounds like Flower - and the Vocaloid fandom has always been full to bursting with the rock songs she suits best. I think the slow build is a case of a product that didn't necessarily have the most marketing, but was genuinely in demand!

    I think it took a while for people to really understand how to use Flower because she has a unique voice by Vocaloid standards. Her V4 release probably helped a lot within the Western fandom in particular, because I know some people really vibed with the more masculine/genderfluid design when it dropped.

    i am quite content in this little space of just opening vocaloid when i please, messing with some files and listening to voices, and just closing it after. like im just listening to things for me, cuz i like the voices, and i like that! maybe ill mix a cover, but i dont rly have the guilt to post it. maybe ill share some soon, but its quite nice to just being in my own bubble again.

    you dont have to! if you run custom isntallation u can install just her and not the editor/vsti thats the cauze of messing V2s up:)

    ummm would anyone with japanese knowledge be willing to help me understand the password for a person's USTs..? idk if thats bad to ask;; i think i understand what it should be, but i dont have the knowledge on kanji to convert the password correctly....

    decided i would make my own status for the tier list patuk made!! i definitely recognize a number of the lowest tier ones but i dont have enough of an impression so.

    also disclaimer but my feelings on IA and ONE are definitely more on their previous banks, and not actually the newest samples we have had of them.... if i was purely thinking of the newest ones theyd be on F/D probably.

    also i will add i dont really listen to the Cevios that much BUT my overall opinion on Cevio is its like. D-F tier anyways so i cant say any of them indivdually would score higher than that. i also just realized i put Bones on C when he was mean to be D oops

    I'm so glad it's eeing usage 😭 and also TASTE cuz mine looks pretty similar!

    and no worries the ones in the tier list are the old vbs, I only include released vbs and I'm gonna add their cevio ai vbs once they release:)
