It really sucks that a new voice synth comes out in a time where vocal synth production isn't as hot as it used to be, and we all have to mercilessly shit on it lmao. I'm not saying its undeserved though. It's really stupid that Emvoice is /200 dollars/, when SynthV Basic is free and is a much better all around program imo. It sounds like whoever voiced Jay probably has a really good singing voice, but the engine does not flatter his voice at all. Lucy at least sounds cute.
But as a side note; When will these vocal synth developers finally understand that the market for voice synths in the west IS the market for vocaloid weebs birthed from Hatsune Miku and anime? The biggest name I can think of that ever touched Vocaloid in the west was Porter Robinson, and he is a huge anime dork himself. The only other demand that I can maybe see in the west is a niche that has already been taken up by Chipspeech (robotic vocals for electronic music and other media production) A super close to being realistic, yet uncanny valley flat synth vocal like emvoice just doesn't really appeal to anyone outside of the voice synth nerd bubble.
